Consultant Fire Scientist (Scientific Advisor)

Manchester

Role purpose

To fulfil the fire science & other of our client's contracts in the Greater London area, particularly training commitments.

The role

You should .....

• Hold a degree in Chemistry or other relevant scientific subject (including chemistry)
• Possess experience & capability regarding the characteristics of hazardous materials

• Have experience with use & application of a range of measurement & monitoring equipment
• Be self confident, self motivated, organised, methodical & adaptable
• Have the ability to communicate at all levels
• Have a willingness to engage in continuous professional development associated with hazardous materials & other relevant fire science competencies
• Computer literate in standard Microsoft office suite – database experience an advantage

Main duties

• Operate in line with our client's Core Values and Code of Ethics
• Act & develop as a scientific advisor to emergency services & other commercial clients
• Undertake investigations into the causes of fires.
• Undertake measurement, monitoring & assessment surveys in the built & natural environment
• Provide training support to the fire brigade & other clients in relevant scientific aspects
• Write scientific reports in fulfilment of survey work undertake
• Participate in out of hours work rotas – providing scientific support to clients at night & weekends

Senior Power Engineer

UK-North West

Senior Power Engineer required to join a successful independent energy consultancy.

Primarily a desk-based role with some external meetings and site visits. Would suit a power engineer from either project or studies background as the role can be developed around individuals with potential.

Duties to include responding to enquiries, identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, undertaking studies, writing and reviewing reports, managing client relationships and managing small project teams.

Skills and Experience:

• Relevant degree and be at (or approaching) Chartered Engineer status.
• Ability to produce high quality technical reports.
• Project management or project engineering experience.
• Experience of economic analysis and cost-benefit appraisals.
• Knowledge of QA systems and document management
• Good knowledge of UK and international standards and codes.
• Good understanding of loadflow, fault and dynamic calculations.
• Knowledge of IPSA, PSSE or DigSilent and other analysis packages and software languages.

Practical experience of transmission, distribution or generation projects would be highly desirable.

Our client is a German manufacturer and service provider of wind turbines. The dynamic new entrant was founded in 2007 and is based in two locations. The headquarters are in Hamburg, and the wind turbines are manufactured in one of the world’s most modern production facilities in Bremerhaven. Apart from wind turbine production, the company offers an array of services – from installation and commissioning to maintenance and repair.

In order to achieve their objectives, the team must constantly satisfy the requirements of their international customers, come up with creative solutions and make sound decisions.
Due to the company’s continued growth in the sales department, we are looking for a Sales manager for wind turbines.

Role and responsibilities:

• Responsible for international sales of wind turbines to project developers, investors and utilities / IPPs
• Self-starting business development and coordination process from initial contact to completion of Individual contracts and framework agreements
• Initiation and development of successful customer relationships
• Development of the overall sales strategy and playing an active role in the further expansion of the client’s international distribution network
• Independent coordination of internal sales and offering processes, in particular in cooperation with the departments of Project Management, Service & After Sales and Legal
Skills and experience

• University degree in engineering, natural sciences or Business Administration with a strong technical understanding
• Hands-on approach with decisiveness and a passion for sales & entrepreneurship
• At least five years professional experience in international sales of complex products or systems Engineering project or business, ideally in the wind industry or in power engineering
• Communication, influencing and negotiation skills, international experience
• Fluent in German and English; other foreign languages such as Italian, French or Polish beneficial
• Proven customer focus and willingness to travel internationally

Senior Acoustic Consultant

I have an urgent requirement for a Senior Acoustic Consultant in London. This is a unique opportunity to join an expanding international acoustic consultancy. The company has offices in the Middle East, the Far East as well as other exotic locations and there is the opportunity to travel internationally.

Candidates will require 5-10 years experience which will incorporate; Rail noise and vibration, Construction noise, Mechanical and ventilation and Environmental noise.

Salary is likely to be circa £35 - £45k, although this is flexible for exceptional candidates.

CHP Plant Engineers - Job Description

Engineers required for a number of prestigious long term energy supply contracts involving the supply of heat and electricity to a range of commercial units.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in this field and the relevant industry qualifications. A good understanding of operations and maintenance, CHP systems/boiler plant and distribution systems on a commercial/industrial level is required.

All sites are in and around the London area.

There are a number of key outputs for the successful candidate to deliver, including:-

Reactive and Planned Maintenance

• Carry out the defined planned maintenance regime for all contractual obligations
• Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works on plant
• Attend, diagnose and repair faults having due regard to customer care in this specific environment
• Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently
• Any other relevant duties that may be required

General

• Maintain all documentation and records to the highest standard
• Ensure jobs are closed down promptly to allow for timely invoicing
• Have an understanding of the contracts and charging structures
• Project a professional image at all times to external and internal customers, this is to include clear channels of communication
• Other tasks as directed by Line Management

Energy Manager / Consultant

West Midlands

Our Client is a large Multinational Business Services Provider with an opportunity within their Energy and Environmental Management business. This part of the business is dedicated to reducing the cost and carbon footprint of its own properties and those of its clients, as well as providing advice to their internal and external customers.

We are seeking an Energy Manager or Low Carbon Consultant with property experience, to support the business and take responsibility for delivering energy management services to the organisation's clients.

 

With properties across the Wales and Midland areas, this is a varied and challenging position. The role will be responsible for identifying poor performing sites, recommending cost effective remedial solutions and managing the database of energy project opportunities. You will also be involved in regular energy performance reviews with client representatives, supporting them in their CRC aspirations, and ensuring the appropriate compliance.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in a related discipline with demonstrable experience in identifying and delivering energy and carbon abatement projects. You will also have excellent organisational, time management, IT and communication skills. Willingness to travel extensively is also a requirement and DEC accreditation would be an advantage.

Senior Hydrologist

Scotland

I am currently working with a major consultancy based in Scotland that is looking to recruit a Senior Hydrologist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of hydrology support to the EIA, Contaminated Land and Environmental Engineering teams. You will responsible for; Completing hydrology reports in relation to Environmental Impact Assessments and other hydrology linked services.

Completing private water supply assessments and providing other hydrology support where necessary; Completing ongoing projects such as the delivery of flood risk modelling and mapping to clients, provision of strategic flood risk advice to clients/local authorities, designing flood management measure, completing flood risk assessment and water quality assessments.

The successful candidate will require at least 5 years experience in a similar role and hold a BSc or MSc in Geography or Environmental Science with a further qualification in Hydrology. Technical Services Manager - District Energy

Job Description

Overview

A Technical Services Manager (TSM) with a strong technical and engineering background to support a number of prestigious Operation and Maintenance contracts related to District Energy Schemes and Energy back-up systems.
Based in central London, the Technical Services Manager will work very closely with the Site Operational team, Head Office, with the wider Operational team across the UK.

The Role

Reporting to the site Contract Manager, the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for providing on-site technical expertise in order to allow the site operational team to deliver a high quality service to Clients and Consumers.

The position will be specifically measured against the ability to deliver compliance against contractual obligations and demonstrable improvements to system performance, reliability and lifecycle costs resulting in a positive impact on the financial performance of the contract.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in this field and the relevant industry qualifications including:-

• Experience in District Energy Schemes
• Managing and training technical staff
• PPM development ideally in district energy / combined heat and power industry
• Knowledge and delivery of effective health and safety improvements in an operational environment
• Quality assurance, auditing and document control
• Strong IT skills including PPM databases
