The company has built the world’s first underground structure constructed entirely by a small fleet of swarming robots. They now plan to fully commercialise the process and will be further enhancing the software that will control the bots in a swarm as well as represent this entire process in a Digital Twin.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize C++ applications for data-acquisition, real-time data-processing, and control.
  • Develop digital-twin rendering and simulation applications in a robotics context.
  • Develop high-performance production applications and libraries from prototype code.
  • Implement complex algorithms and data structures in C++ to solve specific problems e.g. robot scheduling.
  • Design and implement system-components using modern C++ (11-20) and object-oriented methods.
  • Work with multithreading and concurrency, understanding the intricacies of synchronization, race conditions, and deadlock resolution.
  • Integrate third-party libraries and APIs for extended functionality.
  • Write robust, testable, and maintainable code; conduct rigorous code reviews.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define requirements and deliver innovative solutions.

  • Experience with real-time systems, performance and resource optimization.
  • Familiarity with network programming, sockets, and communication protocols.
  • Demonstrable experience with version control systems, preferably Github.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Contributions to major C++ projects or active engagement in the C++ community.
  • Experience with multithreaded development (both task-parallel and data-parallel).
  • Experience with object-oriented design and SOLID principles.
  • Experience with CUDA or other GPU-compute platform/API (optional).
  • Experience with Unreal Engine (optional).
  • Experience with shader programming (HLSL etc, optional).
  • Experience with Boost C++ libraries (optional).

The role

We are looking for a Planning Manager with knowledge of renewable energy applications to LPAs to join the in-house team. We are looking for someone that can support and manage external planning consultants to submit renewable energy projects into the Town and County planning system including: Pre-App meetings, public consultations, Parish Council meetings, managing EIA screenings, stat consultee responses, committee hearings, planning appeals and judicial reviews.

This is a vital role within the wider development team. Liaising with teams within the company, external planning advisors, consultants, and Planning Officers at the LPAs. There are already great relationships with a number of highly experienced renewable energy planning consultants, and these will need to be supported and managed closely.

The candidate

We are looking for someone with the ability to influence strategic thinking at all levels. The ideal candidate will be technically able, with a minimum of 2 years of planning/development experience within a consultancy or a developer.

You should have a proven track record of delivering projects from ground-up through to construction release of conditions, with preferential attention given to candidates who have renewables experience such as solar or wind, and can do the following;

  • Provide a clear path to planning success within each project being developed or considered
  • Liaise, and influence key stakeholders, such as; planning officers, employees of consultee organisations, third parties within the planning system
  • Ensure compliance with planning regulations
  • Keep informed of planning policy and practice, market conditions and the impact of government policy
  • Being accountable for projects, from the outset through to consent, and release of conditions with the help of experienced senior external planning consultants
  • Assessing and commenting on draft design & access statements from external consultants prior to submission.
  • Attend local planning hearings and committee meetings throughout the process
  • Leading the outsourced planning team, such as LVIA, Environmental, Photo, Water bodies, Highways, whilst always providing direction and internal updates,
  • Tracking all projects within the company’s portfolio, including all consents received, thus ensuring conditions are discharged, including legal obligations associated with the consents
  • Manage any implementation compliance, such as Section 106 Agreement or other planning/commercial conditions

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Clear competence in the job,

The main purpose of the role is to provide compliance and technical support as part of the compliance team and to all business functions as required; to use chemistry knowledge to support the technical assessment of incoming waste enquiries and customer load lists; to support the processing and monitoring of trans frontier shipment notifications. Your responsibilities will include but not limited too; Ensure support is provided in the processing and management of TFS notifications; provide cross divisional compliance support on regulatory and legislative changes; ensure the compliant processing and technical assessment of incoming waste enquiries; carry out compliance checks on all waste movements throughout the business; ensure all work is completed as required; meet KPI’s set and agreed with the Technical Manager; support the processing and monitoring of trans frontier shipment notifications; ensure the compliant processing and technical assessment of incoming waste enquiries; routing of waste streams to ensure compliance with licences, permits and waste acceptance procedures.; assist in preparation of costings and quotations for the sales team; assist with the checking of customer load lists to ensure compliance with the TFS regulations, permits, licences and waste acceptance criteria at the receiving site; liaise with external customers and suppliers; to have an awareness and understanding of the applicable regulations and legislation; to understand and advise on the different paperwork and consignment requirements for waste movements; providing support in the delivery of projects as advised by the Technical Manager; providing cross-divisional technical compliance support as required; generating paperwork for waste movements as required; All other duties as required. In order to be considered for this role you will have the following; HNC in Chemistry as a minimum, a degree in Chemistry preferable; Minimum of 1 years’ experience in the waste industry; have an awareness of the off-takers and UK disposal sites waste treatment capabilities; Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and other systems as applicable; have a working knowledge of WM3; have dangerous goods awareness; excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team; organise time effectively.
